Good morning #flowerfriends!
We had a snow storm delay so "Sundays at Mena's Garden" has become "Mondays at Mena's GardenGarden!"
It's time to pre-sprout your #ranunculus & anemone forms to encourage early growth healthier plants & early blooms!

Here's how:
Rinse the corms then soak them in water for 3 to 4 hours at room temperature!
Prepare your container one for each tupe. I use crates filled about a third of the way with potting soil, but you can also use a seed starting container.
Lay the soaked corms on the surface of the the soil closely together. The right side up or top of the anemones is a flat smooth side. I think of the top as a "hat." With the ranunculus its easy to know how to place them in the soil: the "legs" go into the soil.
Don't over soak your corms otherwise they will fall apart. This is especially true with ranunculus!

Cover the corms with about 0.5 inch to 1 inch of soil.
Spray the soil with water so that the soil is damp but not soggy

Place in a cool dark space with the temperature about 50 degrees for 10 to 14 days. I use my basement. Check on the forms once or twice to make sure the soil doesn't dry out.

Transplant into the ground in about 2 weeks whem roots have sprouted!
XOXO
Dr. Mena
